Bus crash

One person is dead after a bus crashed on Highway 36 Tuesday afternoon.

One person died after a bus of contractors flipped Tuesday afternoon on Texas Highway 36 in Freeport, police said.

There were approximately 30 people on the bus, Freeport Police Chief Ray Garivey said. Multiple people were taken to CHI St. Luke's Health Brazosport, he said. The incident is believed to have occurred after 2:30 p.m.

There were conflicting reports as for which company the contractors worked. The area of the road where the incident occurred was cleared for emergency services, including the Freeport Fire Department, Clute Police Department and Freeport EMS.
