CLUTE — A fire consumed a car Sunday afternoon in the parking lot of Brazoswood High School and police are investigating the cause, Clute Police Chief James Fitch said.

No one was inside the Chevrolet Suburban at the time of the fire and no one was injured on the scene, police said.

The car parked next to the Suburban suffered some heat damage, Fitch said.

Brazosport ISD police and Clute police and fire departments responded to a call at 5:30 p.m. and were able put the fire out shortly before 6 p.m., authorities said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation, Fitch said.
