Letters for July 03, 2009

Letters to the Editor published in The Facts:

More accommodations should be made for equestrians

To all the equestrian ladies trying to get water at Brazos Bend State Park, I do hope you manage. It’s about time the Lake Jackson area had something for the Horsy Set. I was fortunate in the ’70s being able to ride around the lake and Dow Park, Dunbar Park and my own subdivision of Buffalo Camp Farms. Then development took over and the end of safe riding, even though the subdivision was supposed to be developed as equestrian properties with trails.

It would be so wonderful with all the green areas such as Wilderness Park if a few trails could be made there. A fee could be charged that would give Lake Jackson more money. Children these days don’t know how much fun owning a pony or horse is. Having to haul horses such long distances just to have a place to ride is very hard on a horse, especially in this miserable heat and the expense of gas. Hope someone listens now as they haven’t over the past 20 years for the same request. Keep trying, girls, and good luck.

Jackie Aleman, Moulton
