ALVIN

Council to weigh possible land buy

Alvin City Council members will discuss a possible land purchase during a closed-door session at 7 p.m. today at City Hall, 216 W. Sealy St.

City Manager Paul Horn said he could not discuss the land purchase because it is set for executive session.

Council members also are expected to approve a developer’s agreement with Palicio Gate and vote on whether to approve $1.6 million in tax notes for future capital purchases, Horn said.

CLUTE

Comprehensive park plan before council

Clute City Council is set to hear a presentation on a comprehensive recreation and open-space plan and decide if it will adopt the plan when it meets at 7 p.m. today at City Hall, 108 E. Main St.

The plan must be approved so the city can submit an application for a grant that would update the city parks, Mayor Calvin Shiflet said.

DANBURY

Council to discuss purchasing K-9 unit

Danbury City Council will discuss purchasing a dog for the police department during its regular meeting at 7 p.m. today at City Hall, 6102 Fifth St.

Council also will discuss hiring an engineer for projects funded by this year’s Community Development Block Grants.

Council to discuss City Hall office hours

City Council is set to discuss changing City Hall operating hours when it meets at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at City Hall, 3210 FM 523.

Employees proposed possible hours changes, including a schedule of 10 hours a day, four days a week, at a meeting in October, but elected officials tabled discussions for further review. Other options included closing City Hall earlier on Fridays.
