The Alvin Yellowjackets capped the season with back-to-back wins and a 27-19 District 24-5A victory Thursday over the Clear Brook Wolverines.
Alvin (3-7, 2-5) trailed Clear Brook (3-7, 2-5) by a 19-14 count heading into the fourth quarter and scored the game’s final two touchdowns for the win. Bryce Jackson found the end zone on a 2-yard run with 8:40 to play, and quarterback Dustin Moehlig sealed the win with a 1-yard touchdown run with 1:54 remaining.
Moehlig ran for 52 yards and two touchdowns and threw for 95 yards. Matthew Bass added 39 yards on the ground and a score for Alvin, and Jackson totaled 75 rushing yards.
Wolverine fullback Brandon Ellison ran 23 times for 109 yards with a score. The Wolverines were limited to 250 yards, all coming on the ground.
The Yellowjackets beat Clear Creek last week, 33-16, for their first district victory. Alvin last won at least three games in a season in 2005 when the team finished with six wins.
Pearland makes short work of Dobie: The Pearland Oilers ended the season on a high note by blanking Dobie, 42-0, in District 22-5A action Friday night at The Rig.
Pearland (6-1, 8-2) finished tied atop District 22-5A when Deer Park upset Pasadena Memorial (16-3) on Friday night. That leaves both the Oilers and Mustangs as co-district champs.
The Oilers gained more than 550 yards of offense on the Longhorns in their finale. Junior tailback Dustin Garrison only had 98 yards on the ground but scored their first three touchdowns.
Another junior, quarterback Trey Anderson, passed for 235 yards on 11 completions and one score.
Jackie Robinson did go beyond the 100-yard mark on the ground as he gained 115 yards on 13 carries and a score for Pearland.
Mark Kanipes also got on the scoreboard as did Juan Trujillo on a 1-yard run to finish the scoring.
The Pearland defense held Dobie (3-4, 4-6) to 88 yards on the night.

Texas City put an end to a miserable season for the Brazosport Exporters by beating them 23-6 in District 24-4A action Friday night at Stingaree Stadium.
Brazosport could not get anything going against the Stings as it trailed 16-0 going into the final quarter. That is when Orlando Lewis plunged in from the 1-yard line for the Ships; only score of the night with 11:51 remaining.
Then Texas City’s Justin Branch put away all hopes of a comeback when just 16 seconds later he ran one in from 72 yards out, putting the Stings up by 16 points again.
Texas City gained 370 total offensive yards as Branch finished with 213 yards on 21 carries and two touchdowns. He also had an 80-yard jaunt in the third period.
Dexter Brown led the Brazosport rushers with 29 yards and Lewis also passed for 106 yards on an 8-19 night.
Brazosport finished the year 1-6 in district play and 3-6 overall.
Meanwhile, Texas City (3-4, 4-6) with the win wound up tied with Manvel and Santa Fe for fourth place. In a coin flip among all three teams, the Indians won and will represent the district in the playoffs as the fourth-place finisher.
Crosby beats Blackcats: In their final game of the year, the Bay City Blackcats were limited to 38 yards in total offense Friday night as they fell 24-0 to Crosby in nondistrict action in Class 4A.
Crosby’s Jakacy Evans ran for 105 yards and three touchdowns on the night.
Bay City managed 13 yards on the ground and 25 in the air to account for all its yardage. It had five first downs in the entire 48 minutes of play.
Bay City (1-9), which finished out of the playoffs in District 23-4A, was the odd man out in the five-team district for the second year in a row.
Cougars blow away Eagles: The Brazosport Christian Eagles already were in the playoffs and were playing a nondistrict opponent in their final game on the road.
Bay Area Christian walloped BCS 24-7, improving to 4-5 overall. The Eagles avoided the shutout when Rickey Jones scampered in from 21 yards out in the fourth period with 8:24 remaining. Jones also added the extra point.
Jones was doing it all for the Eagles as he passed for 108 yards on seven completions and ran for 45 yards on 25 attempts as the Cougar defense was tough on him. For the game, the BCS offense gained only 198 yards while Bay Area gulped up 340 yards on offense.
Tailback Codie Henriques ran all over the Eagles with 210 yards on 10 runs and scored two touchdowns. The Eagles fell to 3-6 on the year.
