EDC to consider promoting city abroad
With a new executive director leading the Freeport Economic Development Corporation, officials will consider promoting the city across the US and in the European Union when they meet today at 6 p.m., according to the agenda.
If approved, the EDC would purchase advertising through the FDI Alliance, a UK-based company aimed at promoting companies, organizations and entities throughout the world, the agenda states. The EDC would also consider purchasing in-state advertising through Expansion Solutions Magazine, also to promote the city, according to the agenda.
Board members will have to go through an election for positions of president, vice president, secretary and treasurer because elections to these positions were never previously held as required by EDC bylaws, according to the agenda.
The agenda also states the EDC will discuss the first ever Freeport Trade Days, an event designed for people to “buy, sell, trade and swap” at West Park Ave. downtown Freeport Sept. 28 and 29, according to a social media page for the event.
