Clute to comply with new legislation

Two joint public hearings between Clute city council and the planning and zoning commission to discuss replatting properties on North Brazosport Boulevard and North Highway 288-B will be the main meeting focus when council meets 7 p.m. Thursday at city hall at 108 East Main Street. Council will also consider setting additional joint public hearings with the planning and zoning commission for further replats, the agenda states.

Council members will also address new legislation passed this session relating to building codes for cities, according to the agenda.

The city will also give special recognition to various city employees for their years of service and to former Ward B councilman Don Oakes for his service to the city, the agenda states.

Council will consider appointing members on the parks and recreation board and the planning and zoning commission to fill vacancies, according to the agenda.

Oyster Creek begins search for new chief

Oyster Creek city council will discuss searching for a new police chief after former chief Tim Bradberry resigned amid a Lake Jackson police investigation when they meet 6 p.m. Thursday in council chambers at 3210 FM 523.

Lake Jackson investigators believe Bradberry was in uniform but off-duty when a vehicle he was driving struck a boat trailer attached to another vehicle, causing minor damage, The Facts previously reported.
