Explore a universe of stories this summer as part of the 2019 Summer Reading Club. Reading fun began Saturday and will run through July 31 with clubs for kids, teens and adults. Online preregistration opened on last month at bcls.lib.tx.us. You can sign up as a family to make it easier or register individual members. You can also sign up at your local Brazoria County library branch.
Everyone has the opportunity to earn prizes for reading. Many branch prizes have been donated by area businesses, the Houston Zoo and the Plantation Quilting Guild.
Kids and teens are eligible to win county grand prizes, which include Digiland tablets, LEGO building sets and a beginner’s telescope kit. Grand prizes will be awarded on Facebook Live at 5 p.m. Aug. 2. Tune in to see if you are a winner.
Each of the system’s 12 libraries offers great programs and events throughout the summer. Learn about area reptiles from Texas Master Naturalists. Discover different kinds of transportation throughout time with the Brazoria County Historical Museum. Learn about Tesla coils and the electricity they create. Participate in crafting, gaming, teen parties and more.
Each library posts a calendar of summer events on its individual webpages and at the library. All programs are free to the public, however seating and materials for each program are limited. Contact your local library for more information about programs, events and activities.
Sponsors for our Summer Reading Clubs include: Brazoria County Library System Foundation, Crocodile Encounter of Angleton, Plantation Quilting Guild, Whataburger, the Houston Zoo and the Friends of the Library organization at each branch.
Brazoria County Library System’s Summer Reading Clubs will keep you and your family discovering whole new worlds. Blast off into the Universe of Stories at the Brazoria County Library System.
