Charles Ray Kellybrew
Charles Ray Kellybrew of Lake Jackson, Texas was born November 21, 1952, in Dardanelle, Arkansas, to the late Iris and Oma Lee Kellybrew. He is also preceded in death by four brothers, Ernest, William, Melvin, and Bruce Kellybrew.
He retired from Dow Chemical after many years of service. Ray AKA “funny” was well known in early years as an “Outstanding Athlete.” His love for sports followed him thoughout the years. He remained a Razorback fan while living in Texas. Ray was known to most of his family and friends as a competitor. Especially when it came to some of his favorite enjoyments, dominoes and horse racing. Ray was a very loving, kind-hearted, and witty person. He was quick to bring laughter and a smile. He had the ability to connect with many people from different walks of life. We will miss him on this side, but he will be graciously welcomed home by many family and friends on the other side.
He leaves to cherish his memory, one daughter, Dawn Thomas of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Carole of Scottsdale, Arizona, and Queen of Memphis, Tennessee; five brothers, Howard (Mary) of Fort Smith, Arkansas, Iris (Jackie) of Midland, Michigan, Kenneth of Dardanelle, Arkansas; Chuck and David (Bertha), of Russellville, Arkansas; one uncle, Lloyd Ray “Buster” Watkins; sister-in-law, Neitha Kellybrew; special friend, Thomas Johnson of Lake Jackson, Texas; a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends.
Services will be Saturday, September 7, 2013 at 10:00 a.m. at Cornwell Funeral Chapel, 207 Quay Street, Dardanelle, Arkansas 72834, with Pastor A. Lee Tyus, officiating. Interment will follow at Mt. Nebo Cemetery in Dardanelle, AR.
Pallbearers are Ray’s nephews and brothers. Honorary pallbearers are John Freeman, Mike Carter, Wallace Moore, Obie Woods, Richard Taylor, Robert Woods, Robert Wimbush, and Thomas Johnson.
Repass will be held at Dardanelle Community Center, Hwy 22 West, Dardanelle, AR 72834.
