Weather jokes too hot to handle
Right now, it’s so hot that mustering the energy to joke about the weather is a sweat-inducing labor. And certainly, dangers created by weeks of stifling heat and drought are no laughing matter.

Bill makes unfair exemption
Land Commissioner Jerry Patterson was rightfully incensed by a bill pushed through in the waning hours of the Texas Legislature’s regular session that essentially exempted property owners on the Hurricane Ike-ravaged Bolivar Peninsula from having to obey the Texas Open Beaches Act, which prohibits structures from the public beach.
