An Angleton man was arrested and charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after police said he shot his father in the left leg.
Rico Estrada, 18, of Angleton was arrested outside a business in the 1100 block of Cemetery Road about 4 p.m. Wednesday, Angleton Police Sgt. Quenton Rush said. He allegedly shot his father with a handgun in the left leg during an argument at an apartment in the 100 block of East Hospital Drive about 2 a.m. Tuesday, Rush said.
The older man was taken by ambulance to Angleton Danbury Medical Center in good condition.
Estrada was held at the Angleton city jail on $25,000 bond Thursday afternoon.

Guns taken from home
Three shotguns and a deer rifle were taken from a home in the 600 block of Tall Timber Creek sometime Wednesday, West Columbia Police investigator Curtis Wulf said.
The homeowners left the house about 8 a.m. and returned about 3 p.m. Wednesday to find a back window broken and the guns missing, Wulf said.
There was no estimated value available for the guns, he said.

Candle likely cause of fire, chief says
A mobile home in Wild Peach that had been without electricity was damaged in a fire probably caused by a candle that hadn’t been properly extinguished, the community’s fire chief said.
The fire’s damage was confined to the living room after the couch caught fire and spread to the walls, Wild Peach Fire Chief Chuck Richardson said.
The fire started about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday in the 1700 block of CR 244-D.
About 20 firefighters from the Wild Peach and Brazoria fire departments responded, Richardson said.
No one was in the home at the time of the fire and the home is insured, he said.
