Carr 50th Anniversary
David and Sue Carr recently celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary. They were married on August 1, 1959, at the Sweeny Church of Christ at 6 p.m. in the evening. They have lived in Sweeny for the past 47 years.
They have one daughter, Crystal Carr Womack and her husband Bill of West Columbia, and two grandchildren, Randy Womack of Houston and Laura-Sue Womack Karl and husband Kevin Karl of San Diego, California. David is retired from Sweeny Independent School District and Sue is retired from Conoco-Phillips.
For their golden wedding anniversary they were honored with a celebration at Columbia Lakes on Saturday, August 1, 2009, hosted by their children and grand- children. David and Sue renewed their vows with family and friends as witnesses at 6 p.m. in the evening (exactly 50 years to the hour of their original wedding vows) with Nathan Burrow of the Sweeny Church of Christ officiating. Several members of their original wedding party were in attendance. A buffet dinner and cake cutting followed the renewal ceremony.
