Brazosport Regional hosts annual program
Published November 27, 2009
LAKE JACKSON — People can honor a loved one and help others receive improved health care through personalized memorials at Brazosport Regional Health System.
The hospital system has begun the 24th annual Tree of Remembrance, a program where memorials of friends or family members shine on a tree outside its main lobby.
“The whole focus of the Tree of Remembrance is to remember those who have passed away or those who can’t be with us during the holiday season,” spokesman Scott Briner said.
The memorials are lighted ornaments that hang on the tree.
The hospital auxiliary uses proceeds from the memorials for improvements to the hospital system, such as waiting room remodeling, Briner said.
“The auxiliary garners funds through a number of different streams, but the Tree of Remembrance is one of those avenues that they use to do fundraising for the hospital,” he said.
Hospital system officials celebrate the program annually with a ceremony that includes music, presentations and snacks, Briner said. It is set for 5 p.m. Dec. 3 in the hospital’s main lobby.
Memorials are $5. For information, call the hospital auxiliary at 979-285-1185.
