Albom column refreshing
I just read the column by Mitch Albom in Tuesday’s Facts. It was so funny about the way we are about using the disinfectants. I guess someday we might think that we need to live in a bubble — I don't think so.
Thank Mr. Albom for a very funny caricature of us.

Failure of BISD bond a shame
I am so disappointed the Brazosport ISD bond Issue didn't pass. On a personal note, my children's elementary school would have received new classrooms and a gymnasium. With the overpopulation of schools, the new classrooms would’ve provided a better learning experience for students. Now, P.E. takes place in a classroom the size of a average living room. With childhood obesity on the rise, these are not satisfactory areas for learning good exercise habits. How are students supposed to have fun and learn physical activities without ample space?
The Web site www.forbisdkids.com clearly detailed the bond issue for each school. A few of the older elementary schools were going to be replaced, several schools were going to get more classrooms, and some were going to get activity buildings for the very first time. And those are just a few of the improvements we need in our school district that were planned.
In a nutshell, all the money was going to benefit all of our children. I just can't understand why why anyone wouldn't want a better education and learning experience for our local students. It’s a shame our community's children won't reap these benefits.

No need to take on unnecessary debt
My house is totally paid for and almost 30 years old. A few of the outlets don’t work and the roof has a leak. Last week, I proposed to my wife that we have the house demolished and build a brand new spiffy house. We could get a big mortgage, including funds for a nice new library I’ve always wanted, and a few more bucks for a fancy indoor swimming pool so I could practice for the next Olympic games.
She rejected my proposal, pointing out that an electrician could fix the outlets for $200, the pot we have under the roof leak has worked for 10 years, my new $400 Kindle e-reader will deliver more books than any library, and the rec center has several monster pools.
I am thinking maybe it’s the bad economy that has her in such a grouchy mood. Now, where am I going to get that $200 for the electrician?
