Megan L. Hickl weds Adam C. Pate

Megan L. Hickl of Bay City, Texas, and Adam C. Pate of Bay City were married on April 18, 2009, in a double-ring ceremony at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Blessing, Texas.

Father Samuel Appiasi officiated the ceremony. The bride is the daughter of Paul and Janet Hickl of Bay City, Texas. She is the granddaughter of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Wood of Bay City and the late Mr. and Mrs. John Hickl. She is the Goddaughter of Mr. Allan Brown and Mrs. Michael Simpson.

The groom is the son of Robert and Tricia Pate of Lake Jackson, and the grandson of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Pate of Sweeny.

The matron of honor was Mrs. John DeWitt. The bridesmaids were Mrs. Cliff Nielsen and Ms. Elcia Olivo. The flower girl was Miss Natalie Nielsen and the ring bearer was Master Jace DeWitt.

The best man was Mr. Corey Rayburn. The groomsmen were Mr. Eric Pate and Mr. Adam Hickl. Ushers were Mr. Jared Ramey and Mr. Jason Erwin. Acolytes were Miss Jordan Rickaway and Mr. Eric Hickl. Readers were Adam Hickl, Emily Wood and Kimberlee Reed. Presentation of gifts was by Darcy Wood and Kaylee Reed.

The bride graduated from Bay City High School in 1999, and graduated from University of Houston — Victoria with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies. She is currently an eighth- grade Math teacher at Bay City Junior High.

The groom graduated from Sweeny High School and the University of Texas at San Antonio with a Bachelor of Science Degree in Kinesiology. He is currently a PE Coach at Bay City Junior High.

Music was provided by organist Mrs. David Farned, trumpeter Mr. Jim Popham, violinist Mr. Chris Hundl, cellist Mr. Patrick Hundl and vocalist Ms. Kelsey Cano.

The bride was escorted by her father.

The bride’s dress was made of ivory/silver duchess satin. The strapless bodice was embroidered and edged with crystals at the neckline and dropped waistline. The A-line skirt was edged with beading and embroidery that continued onto the cathedral- length train.

The bridesmaids wore turquoise satin strapless A-line tea-length dresses with asymmetrical side draping. The bride carried a bouquet of white and pink tipped roses with white stephanotis. The bridesmaids carried spring bouquets of flowers. Megan wore her grandmother’s pearls as something borrowed. She wore her mother’s bridal veil as something old. For something blue, she wore a garter made by her mother. Her grandfather lent her a lucky sixpence from England for her shoe.

Following the ceremony, a reception was held at Parish Hall in Blessing, Texas. The couple honeymooned to Wimberley, Texas, and currently reside in Sweeny.
