NO FOOTAGE OF INCIDENT FOUND

Freeport police, unable to find surveillance footage, seek the public’s help in finding two men they say took an envelope containing $3,000 from a man Wednesday, Freeport Police Lt. Steve Ricks said.

One man was about 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds and wearing blue pants and a blue button-up shirt. The other man was about 5-foot-5, 140 pounds and wearing light brown pants and eyeglasses, Ricks said. Both men are black.

Anyone with information is asked to call Freeport police at 979-239-1211.

$2,440 RAISED FOR SCHOOL

Ford Motor Co.’s Drive One 4 UR School event raised $2,440 for Angleton High School groups such as Project Graduation and band and athletic boosters, Gulf Coast Ford Customer Relations Specialist Don Thompson said.

Much of the money raised was given to Project Graduation, as many people who test-drove vehicles indicated that’s where they wanted it sent, Thompson said.

“It was a beautiful day. We had probably more than 300 people come out and they drove a lot of vehicles,” Thompson said.

LJ NATIVE IN TOP 3 ON ‘RUNWAY’

Lake Jackson native Kalyn Hemphill has appeared on Lifetime’s “Project Runway” and “Models of the Runway” every Thursday night since its August debut, and has outlasted 13 other models to make it to the show’s final three.

As one of the top three models, she officially has made it to the finals and could win $25,000 and a fashion spread in Marie Claire magazine.

On “Project Runway,” Hemphill models clothing designed by competitors. “Models of the Runway” gives fans a behind-the-scenes look from the model’s perspective.

The next episode of “Project Runway” will air 9 p.m. Thursday on Lifetime.

LIVERPOOL SEAT FILLED

Liverpool City Council this week approved Marie Middleton to fill the council seat vacated when it voted in October to name Vanessa Lovett as mayor after the sudden death of Mayor Mike Peters.

Even though Peters recently won another two-year term as mayor in May, the law requires the unexpired remainder of Peters’ terms be decided at the next municipal election, which will be in May. Lovett said she intends to run to retain the seat.

Middleton will fill the remaining year and a half of Lovett’s council term, Lovett said.

HIT-AND-RUN VICTIM AWAKE

Alan Lowe, 50, of Angleton is continuing to heal in Houston’s Memorial Hermann Hospital after being hit by a pickup Oct. 3 while helping two stranded motorists on Highway 288-B.

Lowe suffered numerous injuries in the crash. He’s still in the intensive care trauma unit but is regaining consciousness, said his son, Tyler Lowe. Alan Lowe still has tubes in his throat and can’t speak but tries to communicate with his family.

“He moves his mouth and we play charades with him and try to figure out what he’s trying to say,” Tyler Lowe said. “He’s making slow but steady progress.”

Alan Lowe still faces surgery to repair his hip, and last week, Dr. Red Duke found about a liter of dried blood in his lung. That was removed.

No arrests have been made.
