Stanford 65th Anniversary

John A. and Emma A. Stanford Sr. of Lake Jackson, Texas, celebrated their 65th anniversary on October 18, 2009. They have lived in this area since 1944. Mrs. Stanford is the former Emma Crofton of Lake Jackson.

The couple has three sons. They are Ronald J. Stanford Sr. and wife Lana of Lake Jackson; John A. Stanford Jr. and wife Sherri of Freeport; and the late Robert E. Stanford and wife Deborah of Lake Jackson. They have six grandchildren and 11 great-grandchildren.

Mr. Stanford is a World War II Navy Veteran who retired from the Dow Chemical Co. in 1979 after more than 30 years of service. Mrs. Stanford has been a homemaker, and raised their three sons.

After his retirement, they owned and operated a business in Clute for several years, called John and Emma’s T-shirts, Caps, and Things.

They were members of the Brazoria County Breakers CB Club, Brazoria County REACT and the Brazoria County Chapter of the American Red Cross for many years. During this time, they responded to earthquakes in California, flooding disasters on the East Coast and in various other areas, setting up and managing emergency shelters when they were needed.
