FREEPORT — A joint effort between two Brazosport police departments netted about 110 grams of cocaine and landed three people behind bars.
Clute police arrested Freeport residents Gary Sean Miller, 30; James Wesley Russell, 28; and Jeanetta Luanne Russell, 22, on drug charges at 5:15 a.m. Thursday at a house in the 1700 block of Ninth Street.
Miller is charged with possession of a controlled substance. James Russell is charged with two counts of manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance. Jeanetta Russell is charged with manufacture and delivery of a controlled substance, Clute Police Officer Belinda Rickman said.
Police entered the house with a search warrant and found about 110 grams of cocaine and an unknown amount of money in a back bedroom where the Russells were staying, Clute Detective Sgt. Scotty Harris said.
Officers also found a few prescription Vicodin pills in Miller’s bedroom.
Police arrested the three people without incident, Harris said. Officers found no weapons inside the house.
Harris said investigators got information from residents about drug activity out of the house and decided to check it out. Officers were glad they did because that amount of cocaine is for distribution, not personal use, Harris said.
“Their intent was to sell it,” he said.
Bonds were set at $5,000 for Miller, $125,000 for James Russell and $120,000 for Jeanetta Russell. They were awaiting transfer to the Brazoria County jail Friday afternoon, Rickman said.
