Celebrating their first anniversary, members of the Rotary Club of the Texas Gulf Coast After 5 recently installed officers and board of directors for 2009-10, recognized new members and awarded special donations to several groups who are instrumental to the Brazosport community.

New officers are President Jerry Gipson, President-elect Richard Turner, Vice President Barbara Robie, Secretary Sherwyn Moore, Treasurer Fabiola Giannone, Sergeant-at-Arms Jeff Birdwell and immediate past president, Jimmie Birmingham.

Board of directors for 2009-10 are Sherlyn Beauchamp, club administration; Freda Birdwell, membership; Vickie Riechers, service projects; Nick Giannone, Rotary Foundation; and Barbara Robie, public relations.

Honored guests were Assistant District 5890 Governor Susan Milner and her husband, Buddy.

Top club awards went to Richard Turner, Rotarian of the Year, and Jimmie Birmingham, who received the Service Above Self Award. Recognized for their efforts during the outgoing administration were Freda Birdwell, Wayne Reitmeyer, Barbara Robie and Richard Turner.

Birmingham presented the International Service Project of the Year Award, given to After 5 at the Rotary District 5890 Conference. The award was in recognition of After 5’s commitment to Polio Plus, Rotary International’s special project to eliminate Polio throughout the world.
