Betty Jo Breitkreutz
Betty Jo Breitkreutz joined her Heavenly Father on November 1, 2009, from complications of C.O.P.D. Her energetic zest for life will be deeply missed by those who knew and loved her.
Betty Jo was born to Maggie Fincher and Buck Tuttle on June 26, 1931, in Lyons, Texas. She grew up in Lyons and graduated from Somerville High School. When she was 16, she met Hugo Breitkreutz on a blind date. On June 20, 1948, they married and began their life adventure together. They lived in Brenham, Texas, Buckeye, Arizona, Richwood and finally Angleton, where their life together was filled with children, friends and many memory-making moments.
Betty enjoyed many hobbies, such as writing, painting, drawing, sewing and creating many beautiful crafts she shared with loved ones. Her greatest talent, though, was appreciating and encouraging the beauty she saw in each person she knew and loved. She gathered and collected many friendships along her adventures through life, and she had many. Betty was a member of St. John Lutheran Church of Angleton, where she devoted her time and talents to honor the Lord. She leaves us all longing for her laughter, her encouragement, her joyful appreciation of life, the mischievous sparkle of her eyes and that sassiness of hers that compares to none.
Betty is preceded in death by her parents, Maggie and Buck Tuttle; her sister, Lois Towler; and her brother, “Tut” Tuttle and his wife, Angie.
She is survived by her devoted husband of 61 years, Hugo Breitkreutz; her sister, LaNelle Cass of Del Rio; her loving children, Diana Draper of Houston, Boots Coplin and son-in-law, Lennard, of Austin, Mark Breitkreutz and devoted, daughter-in-law, Kim, and Jodie Walls and son-in-law, Rick; and her niece, Carol Byers of Nacogdoches.
She was called Granny and Grandmama by her grandchildren, Krista Guerrero and husband, Aaron, Ashley White and husband, Lawrence, Eric Draper Jr., Lance, Stacy, Terri Jo and Mackenzie Coplin, Buckey Breitkreutz, Jared Walls and wife, Caroline, and Joshua Walls and wife, Kayla. Betty also enjoyed the smiles of two great-grandchildren, Peyton White and Michael Guerrero.
Pallbearers will be Eric Draper Jr., Lennard Coplin, Lance Coplin, Buckey Breitkreutz, Rick Walls, Jared Walls and Joshua Walls.
Please join us to celebrate Betty’s life and adventures of family and friends to share memories.
