Larry G. Bullard

Larry G. Bullard was born in Gilmer, Texas, to Willie Lee and Erma Louise Bullard on July 18, 1950, and passed away on January 1, 2009, at Brazosport Regional Health System.

Larry is survived by his two sons, Jason Bullard and wife, Stephanie, of Angleton and Joe Geer and wife, Christina, of Sweeny. Larry loved his five grandchildren, Kiri and Trace Bullard, Morgan Geer and Kirsten and Kaylor Clark. He also is survived by his brother, Richard Bullard and fiancée, Phyllis Seelye, of Clute, and his sister, Mary Jane Brown and husband, Frank, of Richwood; two aunts, Alma Robinson of Gilmer, Texas, and Patsy Bullard Grier of Ohio; and three nephews and numerous cousins.

He was a 1968 graduate of Brazosport High School and received his associate degree from Alvin Community College. Larry was a member of Brazos Pointe Fellowship and the Velasco Masonic Lodge 757. He was a 21-year veteran police officer who attained the rank of captain with the Freeport Police Department and also was a graduate of the FBI’s National Academy. After leaving Freeport, he worked with the Brazoria County District Attorney’s office as a drug investigator.

Larry also served a two-year tour in Bosnia with the United Nations before joining the Texas Department of Transportation as chief investigator for new- and used-car licensing until he suffered a stroke in January 2006.

The family will receive friends from noon until service time at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 3, 2009, at the Lakewood Funeral Chapel, 98 N. Dixie Drive, Lake Jackson, Texas.

Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 4, 2009, at the Hopewell Cemetery in Gilmer, Texas.

Pallbearers will be Brian Garrett, Dennis Garrett, Logan Kibodeaux, Larry Hatthorn, Dennis Waugh and Mark Wicker.

The family would like to thank his friends for their kindnesses, prayers and good wishes during his illness and good wishes during his illness and final hospital stay.

In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the church or charity of your choice in Larry’s name.
