I t might sound like something old, but winning favorite antique store in The Facts Readers' Choice is not something new to Jeter's Old World Antiques. The shop has been winning the balloting every year since 2015.
Shari Jeter Miller's parents, Frances and Ercell Jeter, opened Jeter's Old World in 1980, and Miller started working there originally in the jewelry department 28 years ago, she said.
In its over 14,000 square feet of space, Jeter's has "a little bit of everything," she said.
Among the items it has on offer are antiques, home decor, jewelry, glassware and new furniture, Miller said.
She decided to be a part of the company because of her parents and eventually took it over.
"We were a very close family, and I enjoyed working with them and I just got interested in it," Miller said.
The store on CR 443 in Angleton has been doing estate sales for 15 years, which keeps them extremely busy, she said. They usually do one week, so roughly three or four a month.
Since Jeter's has been around for 41 years, the business is very involved in the community. Miller has lived in the area all her life, she said. The shop has been winning Readers' Choice antique store since 2015.
Miller appreciates what The Facts has done for the company.
"They've always been real good working on advertising," she said.
There are two major people that Miller would like to thank.
"Both my parents are in heaven, but they are the ones that started this," she said. "They're the ones I would owe the big thanks to."
She would also like to thank her daughter, Meagan Paukner, along with thanking Jamie Davis because of her work at the shop and taking care of things when Miller is at estate sales.
