During the weeks that followed the confession made by Ethel Mae “Kitty” Simpson that she had shot and killed her husband, James Walter “Jimmy” Simpson, newspaper reporters continued to push officials in an unsuccessful effort to obtain more details about the case.

In the meantime, at least two stories about the case appeared in pulp magazines featuring stories of murders throughout the country.
