Like many oldest children in a family, my Uncle Hoyt was something of an overachiever. Perfection in whatever he did was always his goal. The only time I ever heard him express regret about anything was that he had less education than he wished.

His family’s move from Missouri when he was 14 had essentially ended his formal education.
