After almost eight hours of deliberation, an all-male jury in 23rd District Court in Brazoria County returned its verdict in the murder trial of Ethel May “Kitty” Simpson, charged with having killed her husband, James Walter “Jimmy” Simpson.

The written verdict, handed by jury foreman A.L. Blair to Mrs. Jimmie Patterson Higgins, read simply, “We, the jury, find the defendant not guilty.”
