Most Brazoria County residents back in 1958 were interested in the trial of Ethel Mae “Kitty” Simpson, who was accused of having murdered her husband, James Walter “Jimmy” Simpson, then lied to authorities.

All of the county’s local newspapers, as well as those in Houston and Dallas, had followed the story closely.
