Sweeny High School student earns national recognition for traffic safety awareness project, becomes Gold Award Girl Scout

Sweeny High School student Sophia Meagher recently completed work toward her Girl Scout Gold Award.

BRAZORIA — Sophia Meagher, a senior at Sweeny High School, has become a Gold Award Girl Scout. The honor recognizes girls in ninth through 12th grade who demonstrate extraordinary leadership through sustainable and measurable community service projects that require a minimum of 80 hours to complete.

Less than 5 percent of Girl Scouts earn the award.
