Freeport zoning

Freeport officials approved a new downtown zoning area, shown on this map, during Monday’s meeting.

FREEPORT — City Council approved its downtown zoning district aimed at helping revitalize the city after months of deliberation and some cajoling staff members.

“This is something vital for the development of our downtown,” City Manager Tim Kelty said during the Monday night council meeting. “Right now, we have an investor that is making a large investment within downtown for three separate businesses and we really can’t proceed until we make these adjustments.”
