FREEPORT — Freeport Police Detective Husain Jones said his choice to practice the Muslim faith does not prevent him from being a good person — or a good police officer.

“It was a defamation of character,” Jones said of an article recently published online. “I have never met the woman who wrote the article. She doesn’t know me, she doesn’t know who I am, and she doesn’t know what I do. I’m offended she would write these things.”

I am not questioning his faith, just wonder about his allegiance...I trust the Freeport Police dept. thoroughly investigated his background before they hired him.. we are living in times when you can't be too careful in our communities, and country. sometimes people are not what they seem...sad that times require vigilance.

Any rejection of his faith's admittance to acts of terror?

Officer Jones is a good man. I support him 100% and am also disgusted by comments seen by people with no information but an article published on pure speculation and propaganda. It is shameful. NO you don't know everyone. But Officer Jones is a good guy and a good officer!!

Officer Jones is a good cop and person. The City of Freeport is fortunate to have him. The "terrorist" articles (more like blogs and commentaries) could easily be disproved by anyone checking authoritative open sources on the internet for free. People should also research the background of writers of such articles to determine their agenda. Together, these two steps can shed considerable light on the veracity of one's claims.
