After an almost non-existent flu season a year ago credited to people taking extra precautions because of the coronavirus pandemic, people should not let their guard down this year.

“It is bad enough people are still contracting the COVID-19 virus that causes respiratory inflammation, but when combined with the flu, it’s like adding gasoline to a fire,” said Dr. Peter Edemkong, a family medicine specialist at UTMB Health Angleton Danbury Campus.
