It's been 12 years since Gordon, a 327-pound Queensland grouper, died after living at the Texas Sea Center for just as long, gaining quite a following.

Gordon arrived at the Sea Center in 1996 when it opened. His popularity steadily grew with adults and children marveling his size.

Biologist and diver, Kevin Bowers hand-fed Gordon his birthday dinner in the aquarium! Full size mackerel was his birthday treat. We also introduced plush Gordon toys that same year. It was a fun time to be the Visitor Center coordinator .
