Sweeny sign

SWEENY — A proposal to dramatically reshape Sweeny’s nuisance ordinance lifted the bin lid on a hot topic among council members but not one to which they had a quick answer.

“Right now, we have right about 59 open cases on homes around town,” City Manager Reese Cook said of city properties with nuisance ordinance violations. “That includes brush and shrubbery and tall grass and junked vehicles, and a handful of other things that are things that people don’t want to see.”
