The Brazoria County Courthouse in Angleton

ANGLETON — At no time during Rhonda Barchak’s tenure as the Brazoria County District Clerk did she do anything improper, according to a statement from her attorney, Chip Lewis.

“Multiple judges, attorneys and dozens of other county employees were privy to the process of jury empanelment, and no one ever expressed any dissatisfaction or complaint about the process,” Lewis said in the statement.

This article is a prime example of the corruption we have at our courthouse. Barchak’s attorney states that everyone was aware of her jury selection process. Judge Gilbert states in this article they were not involved in the process. One side is held to the standards of the Bar and the other took an oath on the Bible to the citizens of Brazoria County, so which one is lying and which one is telling the truth? Secondly we have an individual running for District Clerk who was removed from office per the Brazosport Facts front page article. Voters have the right to be informed if candidates seeking office have been involved in corruption, and are they worthy of the position and our vote. Why did she leave office?
