The area around the container terminal has been dredged to 51 feet, completing the first part of the overall Freeport Harbor Channel Improvement Project.

FREEPORT — Port Freeport’s Harbor Channel Improvement Project has reached its next step in the process.

Great Lakes Dredge & Dock Corp. completed the dredging of Reach 3, the first part of the almost $300 million project to widen and deepen the harbor channel, said Phyllis Saathoff, executive director and CEO of Port Freeport.
