Beach Cleanup

Randy Headrick tallies what kind of trash he finds at Surfside Beach using a trash collection sheet during the Fall 2019 Adopt-a-Beach cleanup.

Cigarette butts. Plastic bags and bottles. Now, food wrappers join these as both a global and local problem when it comes to marine debris and environmental pollution.

The Ocean Conservancy’s 2020 International Coastal Cleanup Report found that during 2019, people picked up more than 4.77 million food wrappers.
