Sweeny flooding and voting

Ryan Cheek of the Sweeny Fire Department drives a voter through the flooded parking lot to get to the polls at the Sweeny library on Saturday. Floods of more than a foot high affected voters’ ability to safely get to the polls.

Eleven days of voting didn’t settle everything.

Lake Jackson voters narrowed a field of four candidates for Position 3 on City Council, but another round of votes is necessary to decide who will represent Position 3 after no one received a majority of the votes, according to final, unofficial results released Saturday.
