FREEPORT — As a turbulent budget season approaches, Freeport city officials and department heads took the first step in their planning process by setting goals for the upcoming year.

During presentations Saturday during a special city council workshop, Building Official Billy Shoemaker vowed to focus on educating his team and staffing a supervisor position for the community’s accelerated growth.
