CLUTE — Brazoswood High School senior Noah Hankinson has been named a National Merit Semifinalist and will compete for about 7,600 National Merit Scholarships worth more than $30 million.

The competition began with about 1.6 million students from more than 22,000 high schools across the nation. As a finalist, Noah ranks in the top 0.5 percent of students across the country.
