Brazoria Historical Museum visits with Sweeny family descendants

Tommie Lu Schewe and her daughter, Eve Maulsby, of Pearland, who are descendants of John Sweeny and John Smith, Henry Smith’s brother, recently visited the Brazoria Historical Museum. They were interested in the Freedom Tree Carving and artifacts from the Sweeny Plantation donated to the museum by Chevron, and also provided the museum with some very important historical documents from the 1800s. The museum is open from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. each Wednesday and Saturday. For information, call Brazoria Heritage Foundation David Jordan at 979-824-9455.
