Dr. Richard Hardoin, co-founder of the Southwest SIDS Medical Institute, explains the process of using the infant central apnea/heart rate monitor at the organization’s Lake Jackson office in February 2014. The monitor has helped reduce the rate of babies dying of SIDS by 60 percent to 70 percent, he said.
