Other city leaders should have noticed

The Facts did report that three Freeport employees — the city manager and two city secretaries — were charged with state felony offenses, one with $70,000 worth of city credit card charges for personal use. That amount could not be accumulated in a short period of time. Where were the city manager, finance office, mayor, city council members and the city attorney during this time period? The mayor and council had a fiduciary duty to safeguard city activities and funds, knowing there were crucial issues with the government. Others have filed complaints about the city of Freeport to the Texas Rangers and other agencies.
