THE MAILBOX

‘Hello, M ister Mailman,” I say, waving as he walks toward me. “You’ve got mail,” he says.

President Trump has 0 to do with the postal service. President Trump voted absentee meaning he was vetted unlike "mail in" voting where anyone can use anothers ballot or even vote by mail and vote in person for a 2nd time. If mail in voting was a good idea it would have broad bipartisan support, but as we can all see only the democrats are the ones pushing this scam.

rwhowi

You need to get a job and a life. (And an education probably wouldn't hurt either!) The Donald appointed the guy who presently heads the USPS. Incredible, simply incredible.

Bulldog

Sounds like you need the education.

The postmaster general is a member of the Board of Governors of the Postal Service and is elected by the board's nine governors, who are in turn appointed by the president of the United States with the advice and consent of the U.S. Senate.[3] The governors and the postmaster general elect the deputy postmaster general.

Now if you have nothing of value to offer keep your asinine comments in Harris county.

Ballots are sent to the voters on the registration roles not those listed in the white pages or who submitted tax returns. Use your common sense and quite overhyping everything. Btw, I’ve heardI several republicans Including the postmaster general himself in the hearing today saying they support vote by mail. Darn them for joining the Democrats in pushing a scam lol

rwhowie, now be nice.

Father of Six

The US mail service has been irrelevant for 10 years. Everyone knows if you mail something it will probably get to its destination. The question is when? Is this about nostalgia? Does anyone really think the democrats aren't just creating another crisis and using the helpful idiots in the media to exploit it?

natives5

Hey Father of Six, why don’t you tell your mail person that they are irrelevant and I bet your mail still arrives like it always has. We give our mail personS thank you gift cards for being out there working hard. We had mail delivered during a hurricane. FedEx and UPS weren’t delivering. Funny y’all never complained about the postal service until trump told y’all too. And we are supposed to be the sheep lol.

Father of Six

How silly. What does being nice to your mail carrier have to do with any of this nonsense? Don't break your arm trying to prove how wonderful you are. I don't give the postal service a second thought and haven't for years. President Trump didn't manufacture this fake crisis people like you did.

natives5

My point was that you called them irrelevant yet they deliver your mail everyday without your criticism for those past 10 years. Thanks for calling me wonderful; however, it's more like being kind. Hahaha, trump's been crying over vote by mail and trying to cloud the image of the post office for a very long time, well before I even commented on an opinion piece in my local paper. Bless your heart for trying, F06.

Father of Six

Yep natives5 the USPS is great. That's why they lose money, and anyone wanting to make sure something gets where they want it to, when they want it to, uses UPS or FedEx. No one in business uses the US postal service for serious correspondents, period.

PJBM, does your global industrial equipment manufacturer have policy about political activism on the job, wearing MAGA hats, etc.? Watch out a meme might circulate on Facebook about that and T. may tweet his opinion about your company. After all, it is the job of the President of the United States to manage Goodyear Tire Corp. As Mr. Sims commented concerning NRA on 08-20: "to silence an opposing view." A tweet is only an opinion according to you (PJBM), but too bad if SOMEONE'S company's stock may plunge. bla...th....er...

Wow, commentators are getting nasty, wait until November 2.[scared][crying][pirate]

antone

Oh, and you understand full well that McConnell, Linsey Graham, etc. are afraid of T. tweeting and destroying them, or maybe they don't have a mind of their own? Mitt Romney apparently does.

Everyone must have been busy yesterday. A perfectly good column was there waiting for profound prattle. BYRON YORK: What's happening with Postal Service? blah blah blah and other intelligent ram...bl....ing.... [yawn][sleeping][wink]

Father, I've reviewed your words for any substance and hoped to find any words of wisdom upon which to reply. Oh well, there were none. I suppose next we will hear: "Your mother wears combat boots." huh? [ban][thumbdown][sleeping]

Bull, thanks for elucidating on the STRUCTURE of the board members of the U.S. Postal Service board. The current POLITICS is of interest and of which I presume you inform yourself. Certainly you have heard or read about the grilling of the T. appointee?

Here's some of that; I could provide more, but you won't hear it.: "Postmaster General Louis DeJoy himself was a prolific fundraiser for Trump and the Republican Party before he landed the top USPS job in June. The board members were all appointed by Trump.

Most members of the U.S. Postal Service’s board of governors have numerous ties to the Republican Party as well as President Donald Trump’s associates and administration."

The board directs "the exercise of the power" of the Postal Service, controls its expenditures and reviews its practices and policies.[3] It consists of 11 members, 6 are requisite to achieve an ordinary quorum. Of the 11 board members, 9 are the presidentially-appointed governors, 1 is the postmaster general, and 1 is the deputy postmaster general. The 9 governors elect the postmaster general, the chairman of the board as well as the USPS inspector general; the governors and the postmaster general elect the deputy postmaster general. No more than five governors may be adherents of the same political party.

Father @9:52 pm said: "No one in business uses the US postal service for serious correspondents (sic). You are correct, for many years businesses, offices, etc. send correspondence with email attachments (not so much any more), FAX, HTML inputting Forms, etc. that collectively seriously weakened USPS. In addition, folks just get on their iphone and text, etc. That all doesn't mean it's irrelevant, except for your opinion.

Your opinion would not be shared by millions (my opinion) such as elderly, military, rural folks, Santa Claus, etc. In the 2010 Census, 59.5 million people, 19.3% of the population, was rural while more than 95% of the land area is still classified as rural. Wikipedia. Have you stood in line at Christmas time? Possibly, you are a youngster and bury you nose in your iphone.
