A year ago this week, Brazos River floodwaters crept their way across Brazoria County, blanketing Rosharon, then Holiday Lakes, Bar X, West Columbia and parts of Lake Jackson.

The catastrophe rolled in slowly as major rainfall upriver eased its way over the river’s banks and across our roads and acreage, breaching more than 1,000 of our doorways, destroying homes and displacing residents.
