Party affiliations unnecessary at local level

On June 3, 2021, I received a robocall from the Brazoria County Republican Party chairman promoting Rhonda Seth as “the only conservative Republican,” running for a position on the Lake Jackson city council. In my 33 years of living in Lake Jackson, this is the first time a candidate has promoted a political party affiliation. I came across a comment about local elections a while ago that was something like, “There aren’t Republican potholes or Democratic potholes, there are just potholes.” Food for thought, perhaps.
