Mark Friudenberg scoops up some crawfish in April 2016 at the Yokogawa Corporation annual crawfish boil in Freeport.

He ar rived early but took a spot at the back of the banquet room. When I introduced myself before the event began and told him how many good things I had heard about him from mutual friends, he demurred.

Had I met his friend and employee next to him, he asked. He was the one who kept things running at Capt. Mark’s Seafood in Freeport, while Capt. Mark himself — Mark Friudenberg — spent time at the marina in Demi-John.
